DINING
Dinner from seven, breakfast till eleven.
Eight tables in the old kitchen. The menu follows the boat from Peniche and the fruit market in Caldas da Rainha, six dishes a night at most. Breakfast is laid in the courtyard until eleven.

Two treatment rooms in the vaulted cellar, a steam room and a heated pool in the garden. The pool is yours from seven; treatments run from ten until eight and are booked at reception the day before.

We had the Ramparts room and left the shutters open. Church bells at eight, coffee on the walls by nine. Breakfast ran on until eleven and nobody minded.

Before you book
Can we check in before three?

Check-in runs from 3pm and check-out is by 11am. Arrive before three and we hold your bags and open the pool to you; if the room is ready, you get the key.
Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to seven days before arrival on any direct booking. Inside seven days we charge the first night.
Is breakfast included?

On every direct booking, yes, served in the courtyard from 7.30am until 11am. Bookings made through other sites pay £18 a person.
Is there parking?

The walled town is car-free. Leave the car in the free car park below the Porta da Vila, four minutes on foot, and we fetch heavy bags with the trolley.
Getting here without a car?

The bus from Campo Grande in Lisbon takes an hour and stops below the walls. A taxi from Lisbon airport takes about the same; we book one for £95.
Can we bring the dog?

Dogs stay free in the Courtyard rooms and the Garden Suites. Tell us at booking, and keep them off the beds and out of the pool.
WEDDINGS AND EVENTS
The whole house, for the weekend.
Take all twelve rooms from Friday to Sunday. Dinner in the courtyard seats forty, the walls are three minutes away for the photographs, and we host one wedding a month so the house is yours.
